I am going on a trip to Calgary Alberta this summer with my family. Any good hotels to stay in? |
Travel Info My family and I are from Saskatchewan, and we have decided to go to Calgary this summer, but we don't know which hotel would be the best to stay in. Any suggestions and possibly the website of the hotel if possible. I'm leaving on July 10th and going till the 18th. Please help. ;-) Travel Tips First, your trip coincides with the week of the Calgary Stampede, so you should book soon. The "Greatest Outdoor Show On Earth" will have all the hotels bursting at the seams. Many big hotel chains are represented in Calgary and can easily be found on the internet. However, if you want something a bit unique and upscale there is the historic 'Fairmont Palliser' downtown, which is one of the original CP hotels. (CP, for those non-Canadians reading this, stands for Canadian Pacific - the first railway to span Canada coast to coast) In Calgary, you are so close to the mountains that I would highly recommend arranging a stay in Banff for one or two nights if you can manage it. It's only an hour and a half drive to Banff. The 'Fairmont Banff Springs' hotel (again one of the historic CP hotels) is spectacular. The 'Rimrock', if you prefer something a little more modern is also great. There are many others of course. Have fun at the Stampede! Other Travel Tips calgary international hotel It all depends on how much you're willing to spend, and I'm going to guess that all the hotels will put a little "up" in their price due to the high demand during Stampede week. Relatively cheap yet clean - Best Western on 16th Ave NE (hwy 1) or the Sheraton on 32nd Ave & Barlow Tr. NE Nice, and close to the Stampede grounds - Marriott Calgary, downtown. Money to blow - Sheraton Suites Eau Claire, north end of downtown, view of the river.
