Any couples out there looking for other couple friends? |
Travel Info My bf and I have a hard time meeting couples, we don't know where to even start looking. We don't really do the bar scene other than to play pool at the pub and we spend a lot of time at home unless it's nice out in which case we like to go biking. Any ideas where we could go to meet other couples who are not big partiers and value their relationship??? BTW we are both 25. Travel Tips What about a dance class? Like, ballroom dancing. Try to find a place that has, say, an under-30 or under-40 class. We have met some cool people that way. Also, bear in mind that (like it or not) it is often women who make new friends in their twenties, while men tend to be happy with their wives/friends from high school. So there may be a societal expectation that you will make friends and then introduce them to your husband. I know it sounds awful, and I hate the sexism of that situation too, but you might want to join something that involves a lot of women (or just a lot of *people*) and hope that they have great partners so you can hang out and have board game nights or wahtever. My two top picks for just joining any old activity where you will meet friendly people are: a choir and a running club. Both involve a lot of conversation and really good opportunities for humour. Unfortunately, Calgary is about as old-school as it gets and has, I think, about two shitty choirs. So good luck with that one. Maybe you enjoy church and could try a church choir? Running, however, is super big in calgary, hiking too. So check that out. That way both of you could go together and then split up and try to chat up new people.
