Is there train service between Calgary and the U.S. ?

I need to travel from Washington, DC area to Calgary. Can I do that by train? Would I have to drive into Canada (perhaps Toronto) and take a train from there?

The Amtrak website indicates that there are trains from Washington D.C. to Toronto. From Toronto, you would take VIA Rail (Canadian version of Amtrak) to Edmonton, the capital of Alberta. You would then need to drive south about 3.5 hours to get to Calgary. The trip from Toronto to Edmonton would be a bit over two days.

why don't you fly instead, it would be a lot easier and faster and likely cheaper, as long as you have a passport.
