Which is a better city to live in: Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta? Why? |
Travel Info Which would you prefer and why? Travel Tips Overall, I'd have to say Calgary because it's a bigger city with more to do, but Edmonton's got some nice perks too. It's got West Ed Mall, a much larger and much nicer river valley, and the Post-sec schools here are generally acknowledged to be more prestigious. More tours and events make their Alberta stops in Calgary, it's got the better winter climate, and it's closer to the mountains for outdoor pursuits. Plus, it has the better Public Transit system, both servicewise and area covered. If I wasn't already moving to the west coast next month, I'd be moving to Calgary. My spouse and I have outgrown Edmonton, it's just not that big a place for us anymore. Others I would select Calgary as its closer to Banff and The Canadian Rockies. calgary, the gangs are not as prominent Oooohhh... good question!! I'm a true Calgarian, born and raised, so my answer is perhaps biased, but Calgary is by far the best city!! Thanks to Chinooks, we get some really nice weather during the winter. We have one of the most extensive walking/biking pathway systems in North America. Our city is constantly humming with cultural and sporting activities. The views of the mountains are outstanding from most quadrants of the city. Our public transportation system is top notch. But the best part of all... our people are warm, friendly, intelligent and kind - we're always eager to show the world a great time when the focus is placed on us!! Yaaaaahoooooo!!!! I am born and raised in edmonton , but do frequent calgary to visit my sister and friends. I feel to settle in a city to live i would give the upper hand to Calgary. it's scenery and short commute to the mountains. Edmonton is a nice city as well but it is a tired looking city , the arcitecture in calgary is much greater and has more appeal. People seem to be more stuck up in calgary than the more friendly edmontonians but i still give the upper hand to clgary for its things to do and its beautiful landscape and lay out. |
