Travel Info Going to Canada for family vacation will I need a passport have an old DUI from 15 years ago? Travel Tips you will ultimately have to have a passport to enter Canada by the end of 2007 (the end of 2006 if entering by air or sea). check at http://travel.state.gov/ for further info. as far as entry into canada with a previous criminal record, check with the canadian authorities at http://www.canadianembassy.org/... good luck Others You do not need a passport to enter Canada. You do need a birth certificate showing citizinship and some form of picture id. YES SO THEY KNOW WHO TO ARREST. me Yes you need photo id to enter any country. As far as the DUI goes, you can be arrested for it at the border. I suggest that you go to the area that it happened and get them to expunge that from your record. Then go to the Canadian consulate and double check with them to make sure that it has been removed from your record. There is nothing worse then being arrested at the beginning of your holidays. Remember it is illegal to travel to any country with a criminal record. Hope this helped and have a great time in Canada. As a convicted drunk driver, you would not be permitted to enter Canada, and if you fail to tell immigration that you are convicted felon for this charge you may be arrested on the spot. You must obtain a criminal pardon to gain access through the border. Must go through the proper procedures to have this done. |
