I was told Calgary AB was nice?

And now that Ive lived here 6 months I find the people are rude and unfriendly, theres a bunch of crime (my car tires were slashed), and dont even talk to me about their hockey team. Whats good about this place that I dont know about?

Well, if you've moved here from the states I can understand why you feel the way you do. My family and I just moved here from Colorado. I'm a US Citizen and my husband is Canadian. For both of us it has been quite shocking just how narcissistic Calgarians are (we live just south of Calgary). We moved here because we thought it would be a better place to raise our kids. We are beginning to wonder!

The only thing I can suggest is that you be a good Ambassador (representative) from where ever you are from. That is how I am now approaching the move. Have people realize just how nice you are and they won't know what to say except kind things to you/your country.

You're close to Banff [National Park] and Edmonton [West Edmonton Mall]

Most areas are more populated than other various sectors, so prolly more people/crime...Live on the outer edge?
visited relatives in Edmonton/Calgary some summers ago. They lived somewhere less populated than the denser areas...i think lol
Hey, i live in Calgary but i am from Montreal. the crime rate is one of the lowest in the country, I am sorry you are having bad luck lately maybe just in the wrong part of town or i am not sure. I find the people out here are so much nicer. Calgary is great for jobs and we have another check for Klein coming our way, that is definitely an added bonus. There is lots of culture out here but it depends on where you look. Pick the mag WHERE it is free and most hotels or shopping centres give them away at the customer service booth. It has fun places to go, things to do, events that are happening. trust me Calgary is great place to live but maybe you just need to give it a chance.

When i moved here i had a string of bad luck too- my apartment got robbed and my car was parked and some one hit. BUT i got over that and now love Calgary!

I've lived in Calgary for my entire life, and I LOVE it! I have travelled a lot, and I wouldn't live anywhere else in the world (well...maybe Hawaii!). You must be having some bad luck! Oh ya....it is 28C today...why complain???? :)
