Calgarians.......Please help me find my birth father. His name is George Bertrand.? |
Travel Info I was given up for adoption in 1958, and my birth mother told me my father's name is George Bertrand. He was 27 years old in 1958. He worked as a store manager for "Singer Sewing Machines" in Quesnel, B.C. during the late 1950's..... My adoption papers stated that( back then) he had black hair, blue eyes, 5'8", and born approx. 1930/31. He worked for many years in the sewing machine business. I believe he may be in the Calgary area now. Please help! Thank you!!!!!!!!!! Travel Tips This one is a toughfy - none listed in Quesnel not even in the obits for that area There are only 4 Bertrands listed in the phone book for the entrie province of Alberta all listed just G. Bertrand Bon Accord, (780) 921-3035 Calgary, AB (403) 242-5967 or (403) 685-3618 Cold Lake, (780) 594-2213 Edmonton, AB (780) 438-6129 There is also one listed for the province of BC actually listed for George Bertrand, George Dragon Lake, BC (250) 747-0569 I checked the B.C. vitial statistics records for marriages, births, deaths, etc and there was absolutely nothing listed for that name. Nor at Gengateway.com Nor at Alberta Vitial Statistics Nor for Manitoba Vitial Statistics Nor the gov't site for Library and Archives of Canada Closest I could come was a birth of a George Bertrand in Montana USA Feb.23/34 and died on Sept13/99 I found this at: www.familysearch.org - Now Montana isn't so far removed from Alberta - is it possible? Also sometimes what happens is that the spelling could have been misprinted by even one letter - are you sure that this is the absolute correct spelling he used? If you knew someone in Quesnel who had a shop close to the shop he worked in it might help. You could also try putting an ad in the Quesnel and Calgary papers. You must understand that he would be approx 77 years old. If you even knew anything about his interests or origins you could try some of the service and community groups or even the Veterans Clubs. Your birth mother hopefully told a little about his life and where she met him as all that information helps to figure out where he has lived - those are starting points. I'm sure you have registered to find your birth father - has it brought you any responses? I'm sorry I haven't been of more help finding him but maybe by elimating the information I was able to pull up helped. Good Luck on your quest. Others Look under Canada 411 and do a search for George Bertrand. One did show up in Calgary. You can search province by province and make some calls. Like I said there is one listed in Calgary, AB. Try that first. Best of luck to you. |
