I need some information about living expenses in Canberra, Australia? |
Travel Info Housing, Utilities, Food, Transport Travel Tips Housing in Canberra is quite expensive where ever you live. The newer suburbs may have nicer homes but darn it you certainly pay for that privelege. Utilities are standard - if you are a tenant then you pay for water consumption if you are on a seperate water meter, electricity and gas in your own name as what ever service provider for your phone. I live in a 3 bdrm no ens no garage house pay $270 rent $130 elec (every 3 months) $90 for gas in summer (HWS) more in winter - Gas heater $45 for landline $130 per month for mobile $79 for internet Food prices are dependent where you shop. Coles, woolworths, Aldi, Superbarn all competitive and all recommended. We buy about $200 groceries per fortnight plus any extra for going out for dinner and stuff. For dinner for two around 70 per night - meals and drinks is fairly standard. Transport - public and private depending on what you prefer. Public bus sytems are pretty good and have a good service history. Your looking at paying 60 a week for petrol on a med 4 cylinder and 50 for a sml. Petrol prices rocket in Public service pay week. Best to budget in entertainment expenses, shopping sprees and parking as well. Source(s): Check out these links for housing rent - share and buy http://www.allhomes.com.au http://www.realestate.com.au http://www.hodgkinsonrealestate.com.au... Other Travel Tips like everywhere else I guess depends on the area you live - could be a wealthy suburb or a poorer area - whether your buying/renting electricity and gas and phone - same as everywhere else food same transport - no trains, plenty of buses, ride a bike or walk, drive your own car there is a train actually, from Canberra to Sydney. An average 3 bedroom home will cost around $350 a week, depending on where you are living. Checkout realestate.com.au for properties for rent, and also use whereis.com.au to see where they are in relation to the city. Your best bet is to live northside, in places like palmerston, ngunnawal etc. You can all these information at http://www.roomseeker.com.au/ http://www.roomseeker.com.au/ |
