Can anyone reccomend a good place to begin a search when considering an adult apprenticeship? My husband is 26 and has certificate 2 in engineering. He is considering leaving his labouring job to complete his training in diesel fitting through an apprenticeship. We have 2 children under 5 years of age and a 1 year old mortgage. I begin university this June at the age of 25. I cannot find any info on adult apprenticeships and am unsure if we will be able to afford to make this change as our mortgage takes most of our money. We have considered renting out our house and moving to Canberra. My husband was offered a job on Gold Coast but prefers country style living. We live in a town with a pop. of 120000 and there are not many jobs here. We live in a popular suburb, have a nice car and besides our mortgage we have no other debt. Is it wise to move to Canberra and do an apprenticeship now or should he wait until I have finished uni and have full time work?

Why dont you log onto the careers/jobsearch website for apprenticeships I am sure your husband will get a job with his qualifications, and if he dont straight away once you move to the ACT then be patient he will, all my family members got jobs straight away - there is plenty of work in Canberra thats one of the reasons why we moved when we left high school. You will love Canberra I guarantee it, besides it is like a huge country town. I cant wait to go back one day and visit or maybe live when I retire. |
