Travel Info My husband and I have a 2 yr. old. I've been to Cancun before, but not to either of these hotels. I've heard the Royal Solaris is geared more towards families, but have also heard it is still recovering from the hurricane. Any advice? Detailed info would be very much appreciated :)
Travel Tips
My husband and I just returned Sunday from Cancun. Both GR and Royal Solaris are family oriented. We stayed at the GR Solaris (6 days 5 nights). It was very nice. I noticed a lot of other couples there with their young children. They have a kiddie pool and other kiddie areas and activities around the resort. In my opinion their outside snack shop had the best food out of all the areas serving food. They served hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken nuggets french fries etc.(you know all the good kid stuff:) The room was cozy to me, but I have seen surveys were other guests say they are too small. The rooms have little refrigerators that are stocked with bottled water, beer, and sodas. If there isn't enough water, beer etc. in the fridge for you just call downstairs and they will have more sent to you. The hotel has 24 hour room service, which came in handy for the days and nights my husband and I didn't want to go out. The staff was nice, especially out by the pools. Everyday out by the pool they have different activities like aerobics, salsa lessons, spanish lessons, and water volleyball. Every night about 930-10p there's a live band that plays in the lobby/bar area, and some of the staff comes out to host different activities like a salsa contest, or limbo contest(it's really fun). The bartenders made some pretty good drinks. I think the lobby bar and the swim-up bar had the best drinks. They even have cute little kiddie drinks for the kids. As far as hurricane damage, I didn't walk all the way around the Royal Solaris but from what I could see there was no more damage. The GR Solaris had no damage. Well I hope this helps you out. Have Fun!!! |
