Travel Info I am traveling to Cancun in Nov. 2006. Do I need a passport? Travel Tips By law, if you are returning to the United States prior to 31Dec, 2006, then you are only required to present a *certified* copy of your birth certificate and a photo ID. Source(s): I am a travel agent. Other Travel Tips no u have till january 1st 2007 but pass port is preferred and easier to use yes now you do becuz of the new laws on imagration I recently read passports will be required when traveling to Mexico starting the 1st day (literally)of 2007. I was planning to travel there for Christmas. Good luck! Get a passport. Anytime you leave the borders of your country have that passport with you. If there is police trouble your birth certificate isnt going to be enough to get you out of trouble. Also, if your flight was diverted else where instead of your home destination/country you would be up a creek without your passport and detained. I dont care what a travel agent says. Just have a passport on hand. It wont hurt you. It depends on where you are from. If you are from the United States you can get into Mexico with just your birth certificate and a drivers license. You do have to get a visa at the border. If you are from the USA a passport is better and easier. I you are from Europe, Asia, Africa, South or Central America or Australia you need passport |
