what are the pros and cons of renting a car on the yucatan peninsula are there any problems or issues of driving in this reagion we are traveling there in febuary with young children and just want to be prepared

Look....you can make that decision once you see the driving. I personally would not drive down there and I go regularly...like 8 times a year. The bus is a cheap form of transportation and will get you anywhere you want to go. You can also get a taxi at a reasonable rate if you will talk them down. It is very slow down there right now (slow season and slower than I have seen in years) so people are needing money. I would suggest taking public transportation. Of course, it also depends on where you are staying. Driving is just crazy........if you drive.....watch closely for buses and taxis because they rule the roads. |
