The new passport regulations go into effect on Jan. 23, 2007. After that date you must have a passport for AIR travel. After Jan. 2008, you will need a passport for all modes of travel. Best thing is for you to go to the website i have listed below and read it for yourself for your own peace of mind. If you decide you want to go ahead and get a passport, you will have to do the "expedited' service to have a chance of getting it that fast.
