Any interesting spots to visit between Cancun and Tulum?

Travel Info
Am travelling with 3 buddies to Cancun in a couple of weeks. We are staying in Cancun and have all been there before. We are mostly going to hang out on the beach and drink but we will take a day or two to drive down the coast. Besides snorkeling (Xel Ha, Akumal, Yakul, Xaret), scuba, and Tulum ruins, are there any interesting, off-beat places you have been to? Any good restaurants, taco shacks, etc? Thanks.

Travel Tips
You could try cenote diving, snorkeling:

Playa del Carmen is nice too. Plus you can catch the ferry there to Cozumel.

If you have never been to Isla Mujures...you should ferry over and spend the day. Great little places to eat.....and fun just to hang out at the beach and drink. That's where all the locals go to get away from the tourists. People mostly get around by golf carts and bicycles. Holbox is also a cute little place to visit. Hell...get you a map at the airport and just start driving. You can always find something fun and exciting to do in Cancun.
