What is the best resort to stay at on the Riveira Maya for 22 yr old honeymooners?? |
Travel Info I have been researching the all-inclusive resorts on the Riviera Maya, near Cancun Mexico. It seems like once I find one I am interested in, something turns me off to it (like rocky beaches or supposed stares at younger couples from other guests OR the "star friends" at the Iberostar resorts). Don't get me wrong I do not prefer to be around a younger demographic, I'd just rather skip the stares and judgements. I'm basically getting this info from reading reviews. Ugh!! Have any of you gone on your honeymoon there who are in your early or mid twenties and enjoyed it? Also, the trip is a gift from our parents but I still don't want to put them in the hole so we're looking for something around 1,000 each. I fell in love with Secrets Capri Riviera but it's minimum is like 2,000 a pop. We're mainly looking for a really nice pool, a good sized beach and a non-rocky ocean. Also, swim up bars and nice rooms. Thank you guys! Travel Tips I know you said you were put off by the Iberostar resorts, but my wife and I spent a week at the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo in 2004 and LOVED IT!!! It has two very nice pools -- one with a swim-up bar, a beautiful sandy beach with massage cabanas right down on the beach and thatch umbrellas to lay under, a great stretch of non-rocky ocean to swim and play in, and with the exception of the Italian restaurant the food was EXCELLENT. We ate and drank and swam and laid out by the pool and on the beach and didn't have to pay any extra for food or drinks, and we didn't have people staring at us (my wife was 26 and I was 29 at the time). I'd recommend it to anyone. Iberostar also has two other resorts nearby that are less expensive, but if you stay at one of those resorts you can't come over to the Lindo for meals or to use the pools. WARNING: Regardless of which all-inclusive resort you choose, the dress code for dinner is slacks for men -- no jeans or shorts allowed -- and slacks or a dress/skirt for women, and it is STRICTLY enforced. Others Check out Cozumel too. You don't say when you are traveling, where your traveling from or for how many nights. $1,000 each is a little tight for 7 nights. Check out www.applevacations.com. Also check out Dominican Republic, I think they are a little cheaper. But like I said it all depends when you plan on traveling. Mid December to April 15 give or take a few days is considered high season. During the summer is considered low season. Another good site to check out is www.tripadvisor.com Good luck and congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Happy planning We go to the Moon Palace every year in Oct. The beach is ok water is not blue like other spots, but the rooms are nice, a full size jacuzzi in everyroom, mini bars, flat screen tv's. We have seen alot of "honeymooners" there everytime we go and they all seem to be enjoying themselves. It is away from Cancun, but close enough if you decide to go there to spend some time. The beach is sandy and the pool is one of the largest in the Cancun area, with swim up bars and snack bars at the pool. We go with a large group of people every year with people ages 21 to 60 and eveyone enjoys it. So its fun for all ages. Not to mention the service we get there is awesome. You also get massages, manicures and pedicures and two free tours included in your stay. I hope this helps you out. Travelzoo had a deal on this but I cant remember how much it was. Big fans of Palace Resorts. We spent our honeymoon at the Adventura Spa (been there 3x's now). It's all inclusive adults only. Age's range 20 - 60's. No beach but the pools, etc are more than satisfying. The food rocks. Palace Resorts has some good rates during the off season. I think all of their other resorts allow children. For a much more secluded resort check out Xpu-Ha. It's built in a Eco Park with a gorgeous beach and a spectacular coral reef. Palace Resorts includes excursions to the Mayan ruins etc. in your cost. So worth it. Take advantage of them. More info at www.palaceresorts.com The first time we went we booked through a travel agent but know be book directly through the palace. We are going to Xpu-Ha in March. P. E. |
