Going to be staying at the Riu Cancun in Mexico. Can anybody tell me what section of the hotel is for smokers? |
Travel Info By the looks of the hotel, there is a ocean view and a logoon view and was woundering if your a smoker, do they put you on the lagoon side. Also would like to know if I got a non-smoking room, can I still smoke on the balcony, but not in the room. Can you also smoke in the pool area? Travel Tips I don't think the lagoon rooms are assigned as smoking rooms...I know there are some smoking rooms on the ocean view side. You can smoke in the hallway, at the elevators, on the balcony, and definitely at the pool area. You can smoke on the balcony in the non-smoking rooms. What are they gonna do??? Throw you out?? LOL I have actually seen people smoke in the non-smoking rooms, but not advised. I actually think the smoking rooms are assigned by floors, but not 100% sure. It may be designated by sides of the hotel. Almost any room will have a partial view of the ocean. And if it is any comfort.......the lagoon side is just as beautiful in a different way. You can see the entire hotel strip and the sun sets over the water at night, which is absolutely beautiful. You will be pleased with any room that you get!!!! Others Since Mexican's are not yet against smoking I even doubt that they have separate rooms. Anywhere you can smoke on the balcony - if not leave the place. Ocean/Lagoon view: reserve the one you like in advance with your travel agent/Hotel. (Has nothing to do with smoking, lol) Just came back from the Riu. Smoking is allowed everywhere except for specialty restaurants and half of the main buffet. Smokers turn to your left when you go in. Mexico is a disaster for public health regarding smoking. People smoke anywhere, so make sure the wind doesn't blow your way, and you are in a place with plenty of fresh air. You can ask the hotel for a no smoking area - but don't expect any co operation from the locals :) Also, here's some alternatives to compare your choice to - the pictures ar fairly helpful. http://www.cheaperthanhotels.com/mexico/... I stayed there, and you can smoke anywhere you want. There are no designated smoking areas, and smoking hasn't been "outlawed" there, like at home. |
