Does anyone know if you can climb the pyramid again at chichen itza, near cancun, mexico?? |
Travel Info you could two years ago but they stopped it as they were planning on doing some restoration work to it? does anyone know if its restored and ready to climb/crawl again?? cheers LS Travel Tips It's still closed. I think someone fell and now you are not allowed to climb the pyramid any more. Others I dont know but i would be interested inthe answer as i amgoing in October I got married and went to Mexico for my honeymoon four years ago and you could climb it then. You could try looking on the internet to see if you could find details - or ask a travel agent - or perhaps the Mexican Tourist Board? Good luck. we were there on holiday in october and no we could not climb it. There is a backlash against monuments being ruined in mexico and I think chichen itza is in danger of crumbling if people were still allowed to climb it. I think the ban came in maybe 2 years ago. It is still a wonderful day out though! Get there as early as you can and take a guided tour and plenty of drinking water as there is NO shade available for alot of the site. It is a real marvel though...enjoy! The ones in tulum you can't climb those any more as there were getting to deteriorated, the ones in chichenitza I'm not sure of these ones as there in a different state so different rules |
