Spring Break Cancun!? |
Travel Info How far is playa de carmen,X-caret from cancun, would i need a car, intrested in the clubs but also sight seeing,do i even need a car for cancun, please help... going the 30 of march Travel Tips If you've never been to Cancun before, you're probably staying in the hotel zone. If so -- don't get a car - use the public bus to get around Cancun -- Everything's on one street (so you can't get lost), buses cost 65 pesos (which is 60 cents, but they won't accept US coins and you won't get change back from your $1, so use pesos) and one comes by every 3 minutes or so -all day, every day. They look a little raggedy, but they're safe, and filled with the friendliest, most helpful, and least intrusive people that you will ever meet in your life (which in my opinion is what makes Cancun what it is). If you're going to a dress-up event, take a cab, but be sure to agree on the price for the trip before getting in. For going to Del Carmen or Tulum, renting a car for the day is the way to go IF you have other places you plan on stopping on the way there or back. Otherwise (particularly if it's your first time) take one of the many, many available tourbuses and relax. Others I personally wouldn't drive in Cancun, when I go to Playa or X-caret transportation is included so I wouldn't but some people do, see cancun.com for a list of tours and what's included. Trip Advisor can also provide you info from people who have rented cars and how it went, join a forum and you will get alot of feedback, I've been to Cancun over 30 times and have never needed a car. ( Especially on Spring Break ) Good luck / Have fun http://www.tripadvisor.com They r about 1 hour to an hour and a half away each from Cancun. U do not need a car in Cancun as all clubs and restaurants are located right on the hotel zone strip. Depending on which hotel your staying at, you can take the local bus back and forth to get u where u need. To go on excursions such as X-Caret you do need transportation. Your hotel should be able to give you package deals which include transport. Along the streets there are also package vendors which give great discounts for all day trips. P.S. If u r adventurous, u can take the bus to the ferry which goes to playa del carmen. It is a long, long ride though. |
