I dont have an id or passport......? |
Travel Info i am supposed to go to mexico with my bf the 24th and 25th but i dont have either. can u take a birth sertificate hmm help me please Travel Tips that sucks, you need your passport, try talking with the consulate their are "one of's " but unless you drive doesn't look like you can go.... =) Good luck Others No, you have to have a passport. You might be able to get one on an express basis if you get started on it right away but that will cost about $150.00 probably more. You have to have a birth certificate and an id. You need to go get an id, To re-enter the US on a plane, you will have to have a passport. Here are the instructions but I doubt you'll be able to get one in time. It looks like even rushed is taking 2-3 weeks because of high demand. http://travel.state.gov/passport/passpor... You mean in 11 days? Too late for even an expediated passport, at least to be sure of it, but hell, get to the main post office in your city, do the application, pay the expediate fee ($60) on top of the $90-100 passport fee and maybe it will get back to you in time. You'll have to send them your original passport and you'll have to prove to the USPS personnel who you are (usually with a state ID or DL). By air, you are supposed to have a passport since January 2007. They can make exceptions, but they are more likely to make exception to get you back in the US (lost it, whatever) than outbound seeing as how this has been well publisized. By land you don't need a passport until (at least) 2008. By land, photo ID (driver's license) and an original birth certificate will be fine. You'll see many dates for land crossing requirements because they've pushing it ahead many times. But really, it is 2008. No ID? Like no driver's license? Take your birth certificate to the DMV along with proof of address (rental agreement, bank statement, etc) and get one! Bring student ID, etc, anything you have. Maybe a parent to vouch for who you are. All states also issue state ID cards (no driving priviledges, no driving test). Those ID cards are just as good for domestic air travel and land crossing to Can and Mex as a driver's license. Done this many times (travel to Mex with kids, etc) by land and by air. Sorry to say but you cant even drive without even a state issued ID and you will need that to get a passport. If you get the ID you can go to the post office and apply for a passport. If you pay for expidited mail eack way and pay the expidited fee to the State Dept. you might actually get it in 4 days. Mine came in three days. But all in all it will cost you over two hundred dollars. Either way if you don't even have a state ID it says a few things no offence. No ID means no bank account or going on a trip where you and your boyfriend cant plan it enough to have the right stuff. |
