I am going to book vacation next weekend - which hotel? |
Travel Info Debating between Bahia Principe Coba or Catalonia Play Maroma - any suggestions? Bahia looks so big, but hear it is nice!! Travel Tips Bahia's are an excellent chain because they have so much options included. Catalonia ummm not sure about the reviews I've read, I've stayed at over 100 hotels there as it's part of my job, I'm a flight attendant and have many lay overs there, and Bahia would be my choice, they have a cart to take you around because it is soooo big and the food is to die for......... =) Others I was at the Bahia Principe Tulum when they were building the Coba part of the resort. I thought it was too big then, I can't imagine this feeling would be lessened by making the complex another 1/3 larger again. The Coba section is built pretty far from the beach, we were in one of the last buildings in the Tulum section and it was a pretty good trek to the beach from there and the Coba section was built behind the Tulum section. The bext part of our vacation there was spending a night with the volunteers from Fundaci贸n Ecol贸gica Eco-Bah铆a. For a $20 donation, you got to go with a small group to see a sea turtle lay her eggs. (Plus you got a Fundaci贸n Ecol贸gica T-shirt). It was really amazing. Depending on the time of year you go, you can see this or even sea turtles hatching. My wife and are are considering going back to see turtles hatching and being released. The Hacienda part of the hotel is pretty cool I guess, there is shopping there and entertainment and bands at night. It can get pretty hot there though away from the beach if there is not breeze. I'm sure the Coba is nice, it's pretty new. Service at the Tulum resort was great so I would expect that the Coba would be the same. For my wife and I though I think it was too big, we would go back as I said to see the turtles but if not for that then we would look for somewhere more intimate. Sorry I don't know the Catalonia at all. There's a couple of links for you below. Debbies resort reviews is a great site with reviews and trip reports from fellow tourists. Pretty impartial for the most part as they are not trying to sell you a vacation. The Second is the the Fundaci贸n Ecol贸gica Eco-Bah铆a. You get personal service. I like that. It's a higher end resort than Bahia Principe. Bahia looks to big and it's quite a distance from the airport. Good Luck and have a great trip. |
