Travel Info What is the preferred currency in Mexico Cancun? Travel Tips Both Mexican pesos and US dollars are widely accepted. Others US dollars. I had no problem spending U.S. dollars there just take u-s and pounds Pesos or USD. They prefer peso's, but will take U.S. I have found that they won't take U.S. currency if it is ripped or torn in any way. Except maybe at your hotel. The official and national currrency is the Mexican Peso but they also take USDollars gladly because of the high touristic flow throughout the year. I'd suggest you check the exchange rate the day of your trip to make sure of what to expect if prompted to pay in mexican pesos, for example when you want to get a softdrink, a souvenir or catch a cab to look around the city. |
