Travel Info The Grand Xcaret or Sandos Select Club? Which is better? Travel Tips hello, we have two "sandos" hotels here in playa del carmen.neither one is called "select club".select club at the sandos simply means that you stay in a superior room instead of a regular standard hotel-unit.one sandos is called "sandos-caracol" and the other one "sandos-playacar". if we look at the quality:"grand-xcaret" (by occidental) and "sandos-playacar" are both very good hotels.the sandos is more in a mexican "hacienda-style" which i really like.sandos just bought the hotel one year ago....it used to be the "gala-resort".the "sandos-caracol" is by far not as nice as the other two. if we take a look at the location:the "sandos playacar" is the only one in playacar.the "grand" and the "caracol" are both outside playa del carmen and playacar. if we take a look at the beach:the "grand xcaret" doesn't have a beach...well,they have a little "lagoon" with a small artificial beach.the "sandos-caracol" does have a beach but with a very rocky entrance to the ocean.the ""sandos-playacar" has a beautiful beach. so for me: #1: "sandos-playacar" (because of location and beach) #2: "grand-occidental-xcaret" (very nice,but.....) and last and really least, #3: "sandos-caracol" (not able to compete with the other two) my advice:make sure with your your travel-agency which sandos they mean. pardon my spelling.....i'm german greetings from playa del carmen, cancundivers Source(s): living here Other Travel Tips I stayed at sandos this past febuary, you cannot swin in the ocean to many rocks, the food was good, check more comments at tripadvisor.com. |
