Travel Info this is a resort in cancun mexico Travel Tips hello, "resort diamond village playacar" in cancun.....what a mix. ok,step by step. this hotel does not exist. there was a company called "Allegro" (company from the dominican-republic). since 2002 they are part of "Occidental-Hotels". prior to 2002 their hotel in cancun was called "Caribbean-Village-Cancun". after the hurricane "wilma" in 2005 it never reopened. furthermore they had one hotel called "Diamond-Playacar" in playacar which now is called "Occidental-Playacar".at the same time they had another one in playacar which was called "Caribbean-Village-Playacar". this one was sold in 2004 to the RIU-Group and is now called "RIU-Lupita". your "resort DiamondVilliagePlayacar" sounds like a mix between the one in cancun and the other two in playacar...all with one thing in commun:they were owned by allegro. allegro also had plenty of hotels around the world.they had four categories: allegro....3* Allegro-Caribbean-Village....4... Allegro-Diamond......5* Allegro-Royal-Hideaway....5*+ ever since the "Occidental-Group" took over all the "Allegro"-hotels were either down-graded by one star or went over a massive remodeling....except for the royal-hideaways.(they are top) pardon my spelling....i'm german greetings from playa del carmen, cancundivers Source(s): living here.
