5 of us girls (ages 25-53) are going to Cancun for 4 days - any fun ideas?

Travel Tips
There are so many fun things to do in Cancun, Swimming with the dolphins is fun, clubbing on a tour is a must and of course all the wonderful shopping.........

Isla Mujeres
An easy, laid back island just a 20-minute ferry ride from Cancun, Isla Mujeres seems a world away from modern Cancun. The sand streets in Isla have been covered with bricks, and some of the original Caribbean-style clapboard houses still remain in their bright, island colors. Spend a few hours or a whole day on this lovely little island.

Several Cancun marinas offer tours to Isla Mujeres, some for the whole day, while others allow for return several times in the afternoon. The similarities in the trips include a boat ride to the island, continental breakfast, buffet, lunch, snorkeling and time on the island for shopping or exploration.

The snorkeling is excellent here; some of the best the area. Garrafon National Park or the Manchones Reef are both good spots for donning your mask and snorkel. Manchones is just off shore and can be reached by boat; it is the size of a bronze cross installed in 1994. Another good location is the Bahia Mujeres, near the lighthouse at the southern tip of the island.

Diving is also excellent at Isla Mujeres. Both Buzos de Mexico (011-52-98) 77-0500, and Bahia Dive Shop, (011-52-98) 77-0340, ca hook you up with dives on your excursion to Isla.

The island鈥檚 Turtle Sanctuary is one of the most interesting sites, enjoyed by adults and children alike. This reserve, dedicated to protecting species of sea turtles, which can be observed by visitors paddling around a series of indoor and outdoor pools.

Shopping is Isla Mujeres is low-key but can be quite bountiful. Folk art, masks and Guatmalan clothing are abundant in the shops, and prices may be lower than in Cancun.

Just do it. It's the best place to go for fun.
FOAM PARTY!!!!
Be sure to check out the Mayan ruins nearby. Tulum, on the coast south of Cancun, and Coba, to the southwest, are the closest ones, but you should try to see Chichen Itza, on the main highway to Merida to the west. It is one of the best-preserved and restored sites in the Yucatan Peninsula. Even it you're not that much into history, you will be amazed at what the Mayans built over 1000 years ago. Your hotel or resort should have arranged tours available - safer than going on your own.
BEFORE you land everyone make a promise, that no one goes anyplace with-ought at least THREE people for anything, including bathroom trips, make everyone aware when you leave your drinks that you have safety covers for your drinks, NO ONE GOES AWAY FROM THE GROUP ALONE.
and get yourself travel insurance that in the case one of you is injured or worst,
that you dont have to wait until your charter flight leaves before you can go home.
If you think im just being a fool, than no problem go and do anything you want, but everything i have mentioned is a real fact in Cancun, lawlessness it is just like the old west.
have fun but remember its not the United States the cops will treat you like dirt because your Americans,
if you realy need help stay together all the time.
always be alert and protect yourself.
Cancun is a very dangerous place.
check the American travel advisory General Safety: Standards of security, safety, and supervision may not reach those expected in the United States. This has contributed to deaths of U.S. citizens in automobile accidents, after falls from balconies or into open ditches, by drowning in the ocean as well as in hotel pools, and in water-sports mishaps, among others.

The Department of State urges American citizens to take responsibility for their own personal security while traveling to Mexico For the latest security information, Americans traveling should regularly monitor the Department's travel web site where the current Worldwide Caution, Travel Warnings, and Public Announcements can be found.
