Is there a ferry to Cancun from Florida? |
Travel Info Want to visit a relative in Cancun, but I'd like to take my car if possible. Does anyone know of a ferry I can take along with my car? Travel Tips I've never shipped my car there, you can try your travel agent they may have info for you, or google it. Good luck =) Others Nope. there isn't. The flight is only about an hour though A ferry doesn't go across The Gulf of Mexico...its about 1000 miles or more across from Florida to Cancun. You can ship your car from Panama City, FL to Progreso in the Yucatan State. It's about a four hour drive to Cancun from there. http://www.lineaships.com/ Unless you are visiting for a long time I think you'll find it cheaper and easier to rent. If you are importing a car - even if it's only temporary you need permits. There used to be a ferry but it went out of business about three years ago I think. The Yucatan Express ran between Tampa and Progreso. It was billed as a cruise ship with ferry facilities.
