What exactly is safe to eat and drink in Cancun? |
Travel Info I am going to Cancun in a few weeks and I was wondering what is safe to eat and drink? I know to drink only bottled water but do we have to be extremely careful at the well-known restaurants? What about ice and salsa? I don't want to miss out on the salsa but I will definitely resist if it will make us sick? Any other inside tips on eating/drinking in Cancun?? Travel Tips you shouldn't get sick eating and drinking there unless you eat something that is off ....Cancun's water is safe to drink, I still keep to bottled but that's my preference. Ice and salsa etc is not an issue either, salsa's are made by scratch at most restaurants and is very safe. Inside tips .....don't worry Cancun is very safe! =) Others It's all good in Cancun. Don't worry be happy. Tips: I do drink only bottled water when I travel even in the states. I'm always careful what I eat off the buffet table. If I can I'll order off the menu. Only because hot food should be kept hot and cold food should be kept cold.( My own code of how I eat) I always travel with my Imodium, just in case of a tummy upset. Not because the food is bad but because the food is different from what I eat at home. That's it. Have a good fun vacation. s Cancun's water is safe to drink, there restaurants are trustworthy, I lived here for 5 years and never got sick from eating at any restaurants. Don't worry have fun!! you can eat and drink everything you do in the states you moron, besides local restaurants they also have dozens of McDonald's,burger kings, pizza huts, etc. I always drink bottled water even here in the states Definitely bottled water at all times and watch when brushing your teeth. No ice. Do not eat fruits or vegetables that are not peeled or cooked. Take medicine for diahrrhea in case you get the runs. But drink lots of bottled water to flush your system and to prevent dehydration. Do not eat from street vendors. Stick to good restaurants. Salsa could have unpeeled fruits and veggies. I got sick from that. Been there, done that. Our guide in Bolivia said not to eat, for example, a salad, even in a 5 star hotel and even if the waiter said that it had been washed. |
