Travel Tips
Your passport is enough, you do not need a visa. You will fill a customs form and a tourist card. Typically the airlines distribute those forms prior of landing. be sure to fill top and bottom sections and sign the back of the tourist form. The immigration guys in Mexico will keep one section of your tourist form. Immigration will stamp both sections, keep one and give you one of the sections to you. Be sure to keep that form for your way out. Otherwise they will charge you an expensive fine. I typically keep the form with my passport in a safe at the hotel.

There are two main "hotel" zones in Cancun. One is right in Cancun city limits and the other is about 50 miles south in a city call Playa del carmen. They call that area also Playacar. There are also many all inclusive hotels in between.

You have to take in consideration transportation costs depending on your location. Bus transport between Cancun and Playa del Carmen is around $10 USD per person. A taxi ride can be as much as $100 USD per car.

Basic meals can be between $5 to $10 per person a fancy meal can be around $50 per person including drinks. Many clubs, discos and bars offer open-car covers. They range from $30 to $70 depending of the place. A very nice club/show is called Coco Bongo (check the link)

A very nice park with tons of activities to do, including a very nice music show is called Xcaret This is a place where you can spend all day. They open at 10 or 11 and the show ends around 10:00pm entry cost around $50, includes the show, but does not cover meals. They have a package that includes either lunch and / or dinner. Lunch/.brunch is worth it.

If you are going to do a tour or go diving it can also run around $50 to $100 depending of the trip. If you are into ruins. Tulum is kind of basic, but with an excelent setting. Chichen Itza is big, but can be very hot and overwhelming on July.

Take loads of money last time I went abroad to America I took with me nearly 拢1500 and I still had to get my mum to send me a western union. All you need is your passport.
and have fun, great place
Your passport is OK, you will get the tourist visa at the airport, but to be safe call the embassy/consulate of Mexico.
You need lots of money, life is not cheap, and you are going to visit one of the most expensive places in Mexico. Take some medicine for diarroeah, as the water is not good to drink.

Talk to your hotel upon arrival, depending on what tours etc you want to do you can get a general idea before you go by visiting http://www.cancun.com

=) Have fun
