english as in UK or just english speaking???

in cancun you are totally fine if you speak english. that town is sooooo touristy that everyone pretty much speaks english. some street vendors not very well, but most restaurants and bars do.
there's even an outback steakhouse there!

just stick to the city and learn these words:
cerveza---beer
uno, dos, tes, quatro, cinqo, seiz, siete, ocho, nueve, diez
1-10 can help you order something
bano----bathroom

that's about all you need to know!

"La Boom" has English style decor. Easily spotted by the Red London Bus and Old English Tele Box. Unique for it's European feel.)

No English Bars. But you dont need em - all the bars and clubs are USA style. They are brilliant! You have to go to Coco Bongo's, you have to go to Senor Frogs!! Pat O'Briens is good also. La Boom has closed, the hurricane did alot of damage. I'm so jealous you are going - I've been 3 times - I love it there. Riu Cancun is a lovely hotel - only a couple of years old so thats nice. All you have to do is hop on a bus to get to the Bars and Clubs! Go on the Pirate ship one night too thats a good laugh. Oh, I just remembered there was an English or Irish bar I cant remember - its near you actually at the Riu but its a very small bar and didnt look very busy. I'm from London so you are talking to an English Chick!
