What is the best vacation spot on the Mayan Riviera for mid 20's people? (Besides Cancun)? |
Travel Info My friends and I are planning a trip to Mexico, but we are having problems deciding where to go. Here is what we DON'T want: -all inclusive -Cancun -super touristy -too many families -tours -expensive excurtions Here is what we do want: -drinking on the beach -beautiful beaches where we can swim -cheap, authentic food -easy access to ruins, and cenotes for day trips -a chance to practice my spanish -some dancing -a few bars and restaurants -wildlife sightings We need a good spot that is not too touristy, but still has some things to do in the evenings. We are usually budget travellers, but this time we are willing to spend a little more, and maybe rent a condo rather than sleep in a hostel. Please give me suggestions!!! Travel Tips Most of the resorts and hotels that I would recommend are all-inclusive and not budget resorts in Riviera Maya area. I have used this site to rent a house in St John and it's very reliable. It is a beautiful little town, about 45 minutes away from Cancun. I'm not sure you'll be able to get away from many families and touristic attractions, but at least it won't be as crowded as Cancun and they do have a nightlife. playa del carmen...we stayed at the riu and it was pretty fun all we did was drink on the beaches...its less touristy than cancun You might take a look at playainfo.com or locogringo.com. Both have scads of information on the area south of Cancun. We have been there around 6 times & love it. I would recommend the Luna Blue or the the Hotel Playa Maya. |
