Travel Info It's been suggested we get to the airport 3 hours before our American Airlines flight departs Cancun to the US. Is this a good time frame? We are departing on a Sunday. Is duty free liquor purchased at the airport after going through security allowed in the cabin? We have a direct flight to JFK Thanks Travel Tips Hi there, The suggested 3 hours prior is correct, I don't know if you have transfers included if so the tour operator should be aware and your transfer should be set up as such, if you are land only I would book your own transfer so that you do arrive at least 3 hours prior because line ups can be crazy at the Cancun airport, I don't think Sunday really matters right now as I've been there 3 times this week and everyday was crazy, they do however need to send their passenger list to US Immigration prior to push back of the aircraft so this does take time along with scanning every bag that is checked in prior to it being put in the cargo departments takes up alot of time too, so 3 hours is a must, and Duty free I don't find the prices in the Cancun airport cheap, from experience laugh all you want but Walmart has really cheap liquor and throughout the 7 you will find the prices cheaper then the airport, when bringing items through security I believe for the US it's 1 quart that you are allowed, I am from Canada so we differ when it comes from Duty free but you can call your airline to double check because you wouldn't want them to take anything away =( Have fun Source(s): Flight attendant for Air Canada =) Other Travel Tips Hmm I guess I am late at everything..lol..Lets see I get there about 1 hour before but i think its because I know where I am going....Stop and buy any alchohol outside of the airport cause in there its all expensive...I remember last year in July when I was coming back I stopped and bought a snickers and I didnt look at the price right an about fell over cause it was about 3.00 US...thats 30 pesos..But i was already at the register..So I wont do that again...Have fun and take your Sun cream~ |
