I am going to cancun. hows the food and drinks? what can you do during the day & night? clubs?!?!? |
Travel Info I am a picky eater, and don't like many foods, so I would like to know what kind of food they have. I hear you should always drink bottleed water when you're there. How safe is Cancun? Do you spend alot of money there? Travel Tips Cancun is very Americanized when it comes to branded restaurants so don't worry if you don't want or like the food at some restaurants or your resort you will always find Planet Hollywood, McDonald's, Argentian Steak house, Outback Steakhouse, Pizza Hut etc, I love the food their so I don't think you'll have a problem. The water is safe to drink, yet I always drink bottled, and safety in Cancun is fine, they do have some odd crazy things that go on because of drugs etc, but this happens more in the downtown area. I would bring your credit cards along with about $150 a day for leisure and activities etc. http://www.cancun.com has alot of useful info =) Have fun Others Cancun is Great. People are friendly, and we felt very safe. Lots of shopping, water sports, restaurants, clubs, and great history & ruins. The exchange rate is very good, and you should bargain at the markets. Senior Frogs is a one of the big drinking social spots for tourists. The Hotel Zone has most of the nightclubs. Very safe- I traveled around on the local busses with my little kids. Even in town at night. You can get Mexican, sea food, Italian.....whatever you want to spend on. Cancun was built as a tourist city. The water is much safer than the rest of Mexico, although I always start my vacation with a Pepto Bismal tablet for the first day or so, just to be safe. Bring the tablets...very convenient. You should drink bottled water in ANY city that you are not from- even in the US. Be sure to check out the ruins. Myan empire was fascinating. Tulum is about 1 1/2 hrs from Cancun, but Chichan Itza has the huge pyramid, about 2 1/2 hr away. Cancun is sooo beautiful.The hotels are gorgeous. The night clubs are awesome.Coco bongo is a great place.I suggest you go to Grand Oasis.Its beautiful there. They have delicious foods. And its great there. If you go to Grand Oasis you can go to some other hotels that are the Oasis in cancun.When i went with my family we went to oasis cancun and we got to stay at other hotels such as Oasis Palm beach and so on. Grand Oasis is beautiul.You can also go to many places there. Xel-ha,deep sea fishing, an so on. Cancun is very Americanized. Most restaurants are the same type of food as USA. As far as spending money, it's a tourist destination. They have upscale shopping and some good restaurants that can be pricey. Cancun has a purification system in place. The water is safe but I prefer bottled water which I drink at home too. And to answer your last question, Cancun is safe, but you need to take the normal precautions. Don't flash your jewelry or money and be aware of your surroundings. Have a great trip) Cancun is very tourist friendly. They have a lot of restaurants, including those you'd find in the US, like Pizza Hut, Domino's Pizza, Micki D's, etc. Most if not all of the hotels and restaurants use bottled water. You can buy bottled water easily at any of their convenient stores. Cancun is very safe. You can take the bus at time of the day for 65 cents (US money), even to the clubs. I was in Cancun for 6 days/5 nights and brought about $300 in cash. It was enough for me but you can always use a credit card for stuff. Do check out Coco Bongo - it's the best club in Cancun! Check with your hotel about the "clubbing bus" - the bus provides transportation to and from a particular club and includes all drinks for $40! Have fun!!! |
