Travel Info Is it better to use Travelers checks in Cancun Mexico or my Visa Check Card? Travel Tips Check card is good for reason above. But credit card is best if you have one. I don't like letting people in the US know my check card number. If they steal from that it comes out of my bank. Not from the credit card company. Others Positive that you should use your Visa check card! When you pay with your check card your receive the very best rates on your money. Let's say the American dollar is worth $1.90 and the item you purchase is 100pesos you will actually pay around $5.30 us...however if you pay US dollars to a vendor then your rate is 100 pesos equals $10.00. So, go to a bank ATM purchase some pesos please don't exchange in a hotel or cashier on the street. Have a great trip. Cancun is a wonderful place. Traveler's checks are not very good because the exchange rate is determined by the party cashing it. I use my ATM card because it is accepted at all ATM's in Cancun and the exchange rate is updated daily. Some ATM's will give you dollars or pesos, which ever you like. You can use dollars or pesos any place in Cancun. Have fun! |
