Travel Info I need to know asap! Travel Tips I am so glad that there is an open questions regarding tattoos in Mexico! First, the legal age in Mexico is 18-drinking, tattoo and piercing. Any reputable shop will follow these regulations-just like the US. Second, I own a tattoo shop in Mexico... I am American... The risks of getting any communicable disease from a tattoo in Mexico is equal to the risks in te US if you don't know what to look for. 1-Autoclave or disposable-prepackaged equipment. 2-watch the artist set up his station. If he is not wearing gloves or doesn't offer to show you the sterile packages, leave... 3- Cleanliness!! This includes the waiting room and the bathroom. I hope this educates the people reading this... Others Please do not get a tattoo or a piercing in Mexico. You might catch something! Who cares? There's always someone who will do it for you without asking your age. Tell the tat/piercing people you lost your ID (at the club). Have someone buy your drinks for you. If one club refuses you, you can always try another one. Underage people get in clubs all the time for one reason or another. Of course, you could always buy yourself a fake I.D. Have fun! In Mexico is not safe getting tattoos, so please don't get one! When you get a tattoo in Mexico, you are very lickely to get a nasty infection that can lead to death.
