How many Canadians have died in Cancun mexico?

Travel Info
How many unsolved deaths have there been in Cancun Mexico in the past 5 years and is our Gov't doing anything about it

Travel Tips
It can happen anywhere my friend, The Ianerio's I agree that this case needs more attention, but the most recent one from Grande Prairie it sounds like too much alcohol. Many people get out of control on holidays and drink way to much and find themselves in bad situations, whether it be Jamaica or Nassau or Mexico.......
Others
they are not doing a damn thing about it because of all the kidnappings with all the girls

Nothing... it's only a handful compared to the millions that go and nothing happens to them. Mexico nor Cancun will get boycott... you hear about the Aruba case? Tourism is still going hard and strong...

If the local officials in your community rarely take a murder seriously, what makes you think that the international counterparts will take it any more serious? There is so much corruption everywhere. Bottom line, stay cautious and alert of your surroundings WHEREVER you are.
Not enough to care
Just curious... How many unsolved deaths (murders) have there been in Canada in the last 5 years?
It is sad and frustrating to hear about all the accidents and horrible things that we humans do to each other. It is gratifying and comforting to see people try to make things better.

It is up to us to improve things, we can let them remain as they are or we can make them worse. It is good to continue to notice the wrong and negative and it is good to voice our dissatisfaction. I would further encourage each and all of us to see what can we do to make things better. Lets use this opportunity to make some positive change.

In many cases we have to concentrate in educating the new generation to ensure future generations are better, but I am sure we can make things better now if we try.

It is sad to hear the encouragement of dangerous practices. I have even heard flight attendants announce to the plane: "and remember what happens in Cancun, stays in Cancun"

I have personally known of three sad accidents in Cancun caused by alcohol and foolish bravado:

one high school kid was walking drunk in the hotel zone late at night. He passed out and felt sleep in the street right next to the lagoon. He barely survived the attack of an alligator;

One kid was seriously hurt when he felt from the third floor of a hotel. He was part of a Spring Break party. They were having a competition to see who could hang the longest from the rail of the hotel.

A kid died when he tried to jump from the second floor of a hotel to the hotel pool.

I am sure the local authorities have a good part of blame in these. Why did they promote the Spring Break? Why do they permit to sell so much alcohol? Why cannot they have a better control to prevent selling alcohol to minors? Why dont they have more security? etc. etc. But at the end of things we are ultimately responsible for what happens to us.

I have seen some horrible things happen in many countries and cities. I am horrified to see the poor reaction of many governments. But I have also being encouraged to see many improvements.

I will continue looking for ways to improve my behaviour and quality of life. I will also do my best to help improve my surroundings and the quality of life of the people around me. I thank you for pointing out something that most be improved. I thank all the responses that provide some light in what can we do to improve it.
