Cancun to Cozumel?

We are going to Cancun in June and wish to go out to Cozumel for the day, or possibly overnight as our friends are going to be there.
How do we get there, how much will it cost and how long does it take?

The Ferry to Cozumel departs from Playa del Carmen. It takes approximately 40 minutes to cross and it cost approximately $8 USD per person each way.

Playa del Carmen is about 45 minutes ride south of Cancun. There is a very good and inexpensive bus service that could take you from Cancun to Playa del Carmen.

There are plenty hotels in both Cozumel and Playa del Carmen if you decide to stay for a night or so. It is definitely a change of pace and scenery from Cancun.

Also close to Playa del Carmen in the main land you can find Xcaret. It is definitely worth checking it out.

You have to get a ferry (think it takes about an hour).

Dont know the cost I'm afraid, I'm going in September and we are also going to Cozumel for the day.
I agree with everything mad mex says.

Xcaret is fabulous and if you go make sure you stay for the evening show.

We were told to go late in the day to ensure we didn't tire too much but to be honest I'd get there as early as possible, it's the only way to see everything and there are plenty of places to relax.
If you come to cancun come to shrimp bucket.
to get to cozumel, you have to go to playa del carmen taking a bus (taxi to bus station 20 dlls, bus ticket 3 dlls.) once there take the ferry to cozumel(15 dlls)

Oh I would. It's really nice. There is so much to do there. You will have a nice holiday.
One of the most fun things to do in Cozumel is rent a little jeep and go beach-hopping around the island. You can drive all the way around it in a day, stopping at all the little beaches and bars along the way for mini-breaks. Fun!
