Cancun in September?

Is it a good idea to book a trip from August 31st to Sept 3rd to cancun? I understand that its hurricane season but ive heard that its not always bad. And advice would be great.

Cancun is great is September, my birthday is in September and I go every year, I would go if the price is good if I were you, monitor the weather before and during and always give your contact information to your tour operator if you book your land separate from your hotel just in case they need to get a hold of you.

It's worth the trip. You can get travel insurance for a small fee to cover your trip if you wish. Ask your travel agent.
Cancun is hot in September and yes it is hurricane season.

Just because it is the "season" it doesn't mean that there will be a hurricane. Come on down...we can't control Mother Nature so don't allow her to control your travel plans.

Not the best time, if you could go later in September:

The best time of the year to travel to the Yucatan is September 8 - 30. The reason for this is that it is the end of summer and the rains start in October. Kids are back in school and all destinations become less crowded. It is hot but not unbearably so. It generally does not rain and it is usually not windy. The water in the Caribbean Sea is not warm, it is HOT! Swimming can be like taking a hot bath on some days. It has been our experience that you see a greater abundance of aquatic life snorkeling when the water is warmer. Also it can be less expensive to stay in some resorts/hotels because the summer boom is over and vacancies are up.

It's actually extremely hot and humid in September. I'd suggest going in late January, early Feb, or late Oct, early Nov. I just went last January, and it was beautiful...And then it's not so packed with tourists, so u can relax more.
