Anyone else feel tipped to death in Cancun?

Travel Info
I mean damn, everybody there had their hand out waiting for a tip. I got so sick of going to the bathroom and having people jump ahead of me, pull out paper towels, and expect a tip. I understand that is how some people make a living and I think I tip well here in the US but by the end of our vacation I just starting saying no to people.

Travel Tips
Yes sometimes I can feel that way too. I think it helps to have a bunch of 1, 2 and 5 peso coins that way when the guy hands you the paper towel you can give him some pesos and it's not a big deal. Certainly you can't go around handing out dollar bills to everyone for a week.

I think giving a guy 2 pesos for handing me a paper towel is a pretty good tip. I know others might look at it as cheap ($.20) but really, I have never found that picking up a paper towel is all that strenuous so I don't put much value in having someone do it for me. (I do tip better for the old guys who help you park or the kids who bag and load groceries into my car or the people who pump gas for me.)

It's no great hardship to part with a few pesos and to smile and say gracias. I never hurts to be polite.

What did you expect? You're going to get tipped to death on every resort/ tourist town in the globe.
Never been to Cancun, but I have been to other similar locations.. It is true most if not all make there livings off tips, so I am sure if you or I were in the same situation we'd be asking for tips at every single chance because the kiddies need new shoes. It does get frustrating some times, but I just keep in mind how much they need the $$, for every day things you and I take for granted.
what you can do is chance all the money you have to pesos and start tipping out in pesos !! and thats everywhere even in the states. they just trying to make a living!
I completely agree with you. I went to Cancun in April and everyone wants something for doing next to nothing. You do have to put your foot down unless you have tons of extra money and just like to donate.
As an American living in Cancun I will gladly give someone a tip for handing me a towel, or point out a parking place or bag my groceries!

We as Americans support folks on welfare everyday and they don't even have to hand out towels, bag my groceries or point out the parking spot.

Truthfully, which would you rather do?
