What can we do in Cancun? |
Travel Info Going to Cancun in the beginning of August. fFirst time for all of us. Just need some advise on what to pack, activities that are a must, and if we should venture on our own instead of guides. Any opinions/advise will help alot. Thanks. Travel Tips Weather will be hot and humid. Only summer clothes are required. You will need sunscreen and mosquito repellent. You will be by one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Water is crystal clear and sand is white and fine. You will be able to sun bath, walk on beach, swim, snorkel, etc. Within Cancun there are some beaches that are nicer than others. Some are more for relaxing and some others to socialize. There are a few shopping places. La Isla (The Island) in the middle of the Cancun Hotel zone is nice an open. Good options, including restaurants and other activities, like bars, clubs, aquarium, etc. You can visit some Mayan ruins. You can take a tour or if you are adventurous a bus to Tulum. If you go to Tulum, go early and plan to spend a few hours at beach. Ruins are small, but nice. The ruins are located right on the beach and the beach is open to enjoy it. Good crows, good surroundings, good water, etc. You can also have a full day of activities at Xcaret. If you get at opening time you can enjoy tons of activities: floating on underground river, watch butterflies, visit aquarium, watch dolphins, (or swim with them for more money), eat, drink, enjoy beach, snorkel, explore, walk under the sea, , walk a tight rope, watch many shows. The last show at night is definitely worth it. You can do many water sports: diving, snorkeling, parapenting, jet skies, etc. You can visit some other close by locations. Like Playa del Carmen. Good crows, good shopping, good eating, excelent beaches, good parting, etc. Cancun also has tons of clubs, bars and discos.I include some sample links. Have fun Source(s): http://xcaret.com/ http://cocobongo.com.mx/ Other Travel Tips the one and only thing to do is make a baby and get drunk pack light clothes (i.e summer outfit),, you can drink, drink, and drink some more OK. Cancun is a very fun place, usually is very hot so I recommend sunblock and also if you are traveling with little kids lets say 0-12 years you can bring in some toys like: little shovels, molds, sand toys, water guns, etc... there is also the banana maybe you know about it maybe you don't but it is a big water ride in form of a banana that goes fast and tha fun part is that you have to hold on to it or else you will fall because it goes very fast and there is also little boats "lanchitas" were you can go to explore the beach. There is also "buceo" (bo-sey-o) were you can go inside the water to see all the fish, there is fishing also. I really don't recommend a guide because they are expensive and they ask for more money specially if you are from the USA and remember: that for all the services in Cancun you must pay in pesos, Mexican currency and talk in Spanish because in Mexico not everybody talks English. I hope this will be usefull for something and have fun! Trips It will be hot and humid, July and August are the hottest months in Cancun. Bring only your coolest clothes, bathing suit, sunscreen, mosquito repellent and tons of deodorant. There is a brand of sunscreen that also has a bug repellent in it (sold in the USA) called "Bullfrog" you might want to check that out. You don't have to speak Spanish but it does come in handy and pesos are easy to work with. There are some great tours and the information will be at your hotel. There are tours that you purchase where the guides work for tips only...and 10 pesos is a large tip (one dollar US). The folks that bag your groceries (in case you go for snacks) work for tips only as well. If you go into the city of Cancun (away from the Hotel Zone) be prepared to either pay to use the restroom or tip the attendant...the restrooms are very clean! And this is weird but don't put the toilet paper into the toilet place it in the waste basket...the sewer system is not that great. Hope this helps. Cancun is a very beautiful place...some even call it paradise (I am one). I hope you enjoy your trip! (I am an American living in Cancun) |
