Is Cancun a vacation for a family?

Well, I'm taking my family to Mexico, Cancun, and i just wanted ot knowif its for families, but not little kids.

I would suggest Playa Del Carmen, it is just 40min. south of Cancun and you will find a much more laid back and friendly atmosphere. If you stay close to 5th avenue, you can walk anywhere and it is very nice. A few bars here and there and alot of shops. If you are not locked into Cancun you may want to check out Playa. Cancun is more of a club atmosphere in the hotel zone and downtown is a good way away. The Hotels are great in Cancun, so I'm sure you'll have a great time. Most of the attractions are south of Cancun and just south of Playa. Check out the Jungle Tour if you stay in Cancun, if you enjoy driving boats and snorkeling. Check out Xcaret(.com) and Xel-Ha(.com) as well I think you'll enjoy the eco-parks. The trip to Chichen-Itza is an all day tour, but I believe it is worth it.
If you do make it to Playa you can take the ferry over to Cozumel, it is a nice 40min. ride over. $20pp round trip. You will have plenty of fun in Cancun, but at night it's a bit of a club scene.

cancun is beautifull its very touristy you might also wanns check out puerto vallarta thats mostly a family vacation place.
Of course it is! I went when I was 15 and loved it. I am also going this August and will be 21. There are so many fun excursions to go on.

Some excursions can include hopping on a 2 person speed boat and going to the second largest coral reef to snorkel! There is also a Pirate Adventure Cruise which I would highly reccommend, think of it as Medival Times only with Pirates. There are also parks you can go to for the adventure side in you.

You probably already know but your kids will be able to drink alcohol at your hotel. Now if your concerned about this, don't be. All the alcoholic drinks are so watered down that they wont feel anything unless they drink a whol bunch.

I went for spring break so it was alot of younger people, but it prob. can be a family vacation, just check the hotel where you stay and see if its near any of the busy bars. Try and stay closer to the airport, i think its quieter there. Theres lots of excursions like the mayan ruins, snorkeling, horseback riding on the beach and shoping also swimming with dolphins. Very beautiful there.
