Travel Info my teenager is going on a school trip to mexico Travel Tips I just mentioned this in another thread, but it's probably worth saying again. Don't expect your cell phone to work and if it does, expect a large bill even though you may not use it much. I will see if I can find the reference for this, but in the meantime, check mexitel.net. They rent real mexican (Telcel) cell phones (so they work perfectly there) for very cheap $ and the airtime is the same cost as the local people pay. Other Travel Tips i live in indiana and my boyfriend and i both went to puerto vallarta mexico last year. we had NO cell phone access what-so-ever. mine was prepaid and his was on contract. i think if you call the cell phone company beforehand you can probably get access but will have to pay. i know next year when we go back for our honeymoon that is what we are going to do. dont have your kid call from a hotel room phone. you will pay major bucks! he will have to get a calling card which runs about five dollars in american money. this can be used at any pay phone. |
