The Royale Cancun? |
Travel Info Has anyone been to this resort? I am looking for any advice you might have for my upcoming stay. Did you do any trips outside the resort? Would you recommend them? Thanks! Travel Tips The Royal Cancun is the epitome of the Real Resorts in Cancun. It just opened this year. It is on the Caribbean side of Cancun which is absolutely breathtaking. You'll get to this resort and won't want to leave! It is adults only. It is close to shopping and nightlife. I have been to Tulum, Chichen Itza, Xel-Ha and Xcaret. If you have any interest in the Mayan Culture, please visit Tulum or Chichen Itza. I would recommend Chichen Itza first. Xel-Ha and Xcaret are ecological parks that are really nice. Sounds like I have fallen into the 'tourist trap' of visiting the 'commercial' sites. At Xcaret, I floated an underground river (even though I can't swim) that was awesome. The Yucatan Peninsula is full of 'cenotes' and underground rivers. The one are Xcaret meets the ocean. Really cool. Depending on the length of your trip would I suggest leaving the property. If you're going to be gone about a week, then definitely do a day tour. There are TONS of things to do. If you're having an abbreviated trip and are into sun, surf and night life, then enjoy your life at the Royale! Don't forget your Passport! As the other reviews state, air conditioning, food, and check-in need work. But make no mistake, don't let any of this stop you. This hotel is one of the most beautiful hotels you will ever stay at. Just take these pointers to make your stay better. 1. Bring ALOT of singles with you. The hotel won't break US dollars for you for tipping. They will only give you pesos at a lower rate than outside your hotel. 2. We had problems at check-in but luckily Alberto made everything more than better. 3. WEAR SUNBLOCK. We didn't the first day and got burned You need SPF 50. Luckily Manuel, the beachtier, treated us daily with aloe and cold towels with alittle TLC. He is a huge asset to the hotel. 4. The drink to get is the mango-tango. But be sure to ask for top-shelf liquor and watch them pour it. They lie to you. I would suggest to the hotel managers to talk to their bartenders. The hotel should not advertise top-shelf drinks and not provide them to all guests. Quite irritating!!!! 5. At the pool and pool bar order 2 drinks at a time. They tend to take a long time being so busy. They need more pool waiters. 6. Wake up very early to get a good spot at the pool. Don't only but your towels there, you also need a bag or books because we lost are spot twice with towels alone. 7. Beakfast is great at Pelicano's. The view is amazing over the beach. Lunch was good at Asiana if you are willing to wait. Spice is also good but the same food every day. If you want a good quick lunch go for the Tapas. The hot tapas were very good. The cold ones need some work. For dinner Maria Maria is good. but you might find yourself going to Spice after. Do not go to Pelicanos for dinner. We went once and we did not touch our food. The Chef's Plate was ok if you don't mind waiting, although the menu is prefixed and you can not choose. Overall the food had a great presentation but the taste was not there. Also for those of you who are picky with food, you are going to have a hard time. They put butter, cream, and cream cheese on most food, even the fish. 8. Entertainment is limited to a B rated band in th lobby bar. We went into town and found that the only mature enough place to go was Hard Rock Cafe with an entertaing live rock band. It was great. Any other place has drunk teenagers. Overall it seems like the hotel is matureing into what can possibly be one of the best hotels in cancun. We would defenitely consider going back to this hotel. |
