Cancun resorts: All-inclusive vs not?

Travel Info
Planning on a trip to Cancun next month. Can't decide if the all-inclusive is worth getting. Any input on food in resorts vs food/drinks out of resorts would be great. Looking for average prices of meals/drinks/sancks in town. Any info on specific places would be appreciated.

Travel Tips
We did all-inclusive and it was well worth it to us. The food in the hotel district is kind of expensive, so we were glad we didn't have to pay for it. Alcohol was included at our hotel, and we did buy some beer when we were out - $7 for a very small cup. We loved not having to worry about any of that.

We stayed at the Riu Cancun, which was really nice. Good beaches, good pools, a disco, a theater with entertainment, several good restaurants, and several bars. It was a lot of fun.

Been to Cancun twice; once with all-inclusive, one not. Prefer all-inclusive.
dude i'd go for all inclusive, its a little more expensive, but its all worth it
All inclusive ='s amazing!! I would most def suggest this!!!! The food is great, unlimited, and unlimited drinks!! what more can u ask for lol!! I would also suggest one of the palace resorts such as beach palace or cancun palace. Great places/locations. Very safe, young (about age 17-30), great spot on the beach, great place!! Ill send u a link. hope this helped!!
Ive stayed at these places....

this link will show you both places. also sun palace is more quiet if that is what ur looking for and moon palace (nizuc) is family just so u no!!
I would go for the all inclusive.
my husband , my 4 year old son and I stayed at the Melia ..
it's really worth the money when you stay at an all inclusive resort.. best choice.
My wife and I have only been there once in 2002 and we were glad we went with all-inclusive. Other folks I've talked to that tried to wing it on their own ended up spending more money for food and drinks. Also with all-inclusive you shouldn't have to worry about the water as most resorts have their own RO systems. Relax, enjoy, we did!
