Late nite / early morn travel options frm chennai to pondy? |
Travel Info hi all, am frm bom and considering a trip to pondycherry for a weekend. have zeroed into a cpl of options but need some clarifications. 1) if i land in chennai late night (post 10:30) can i get a bus / taxi to pondy? 2) is it safe? 3) how much would it cost? got some indicative options on the net like - last bus to pondy from cmbt seems to be much before 1030. taxi costs 1200 bucks (dunno abt nite fare though) no trains in nite frm chennai to villupuram. need some more info to decide. thanks and cheers kiran Travel Tips Bus travel is the only option. There are buses even after 10.30. It may not terminate at Pondicherry but you can get down enroute at pondicherry by buses to other destinations beyond Pondicheryy. You can reach KMBT even at 10.30 and take a bus. Or early morning you can avail.l For Pondy every 15-20 minutes buses are available. There is not train service. BE CAREFUL. Never go by taxi even in day time in Chennai and surrounding places. They will just remove your pants and see you off. Worst taxi/auto people-. Source(s): - Other Travel Tips Hai .. Travelling in the Night time in Taxi at alone in is not good . Yup u dont have bus or train to Pondy .. Better take a room to rest in chennai on the night and go to the morning time . Its better and safe .. No one can belive on here ... going to pondy by road may take 4 to 5 hours.though the road is safe it is advisable to go in morning. i suggest you to take early morning bus to pondy.you can reach there as early as 10 am.sharat. Hi, Its advisable to take a bus from CMBT ( Chennai Metro Bus Terminal) which is in Koyambedu,Chennai. Say if you reach Chennai at 10.30 PM it will take atleast 15 - 20 mins to come out from the R.Stn. Say you relax for half hr and then catch a bus to Koyambedu(CMBT) you can reach there by 12 PM. You have plenty of buses flying frequently round the clock to Pondy. To reach Pondy you have two routes one is ECR and the other through Thindivanam. ECR bus services will reach half hr much earlier than the other route. Travel time will be 3 hrs to 3.30 hrs. So by early morning 4 AM you can reach Pondy. There are quite a few of Hotels near Pondy bus stand. You can check with Mass Hotel which is quite famous in Pondy if the rates are feasible you can book a room and relax yourself. Have a pleasant Stay. |
