Now BG extended upto Tiruvarur & Mayiladuthurai from Thanjavur, a direct train service from Trivandrum to Kumbakonam and Tiruvarur will help people in a great way.
Large no. of people visit Velankanni, Nagore, Tirunallar, Swamimalai, Uppiliappankovil, Tirumananjeri etc., from Trivandrum, Kollam and southern Tamilnadu. Alternately, link services may be thought of, connecting with importanat trains like Ananthapuri Exp at TPJ.

There was a Nagore -Quilon fast passenger in metre gauge long back.It can be restored between Tiruvarur/Mayiladuthurai and Trivandrum.However when the Mayiladuthurai-Villupuram BG conversion is completed we will have a few more trains on this section.
