ADVENTURE ZONE
Adventure Zone, established in 1998 by Major S. R. Roy, (an alumni of the National Defence Academy and former commando instructor in the Army), is one of the few clubs in India that organises adventure sports associated with nature and the environment. The cost for these sports ranges from Rs.135/- to Rs.200/-.

Parasailing gives participants the exhiliration of being lifted into the air to heights of 200 to 400 feet, harnessed to a parachute that is towed by a jeep. At the end, they are brought down to a safe landing, controlled by the jeep.

A typical day's rock climbing for the first timer, will start off with a lecture on the use of equipment and safety norms, followed by a demonstration. Participants are attached to a safety rope as long as they are on the rock face.

One need not be an experienced swimmer to experience the thrill of water sports. The mechanical sports organised are water skiing, doughnut rides and knee boats. The non-mechanical sports include wind surfing, canoeing, and kayaking. Courses are even offered for Scuba diving at three levels; basic, intermediate and advanced. The physical requirement is that the person must be able to pass the basic swimming test, which will be held on the first day (should also be medically certified by an ENT specialist and should be free from any contagious disease). The duration of this course is four days.

There is also the fun way of finding your way about. Orienteering is all about navigating. Participants learn to use a compass and measure distances, so that they can find their way between points laid down on a route map. Participants are divided into groups and they are given test exercises on navigation.

Obstacle course is a fun way of developing agility and helps people get over physical fears and mental hurdles. Through this course the participant learns that first stumbling blocks need not mean that one should give up. The course contains a set of about 10 obstacles, which include a Burma Bridge, monkey rope, spider web, leopards cave and a nine foot ditch. The participants are divided into small groups under separate instructors and are carefully monitored to see that they follow procedures and safety rules.

The Adventure Zone also arranges camps for Corporates for team building, leadership development and personal growth. Individuals are also guided on how best to overcome weaknesses and cash in on strengths that are thrown up during the programme. On the completion of the camp, a feedback on each individual is provided. The programme consists of group tasks, interactive programme, adventure and exploratory activities.

For parasailing, rock climbing and orienteering, groups of 15 can book on any day of their choice with 48 hours notice. Individuals and smaller groups will be accommodated on weekends and need to book by Thursday. In the case of Scuba diving, obstacle course and adventure camps, groups of 15 can book on any day of their choice with minimum 7 days notice. Individuals and smaller groups must book and give a choice of convenient date.
