Travel Info What would a forieign visitor to Chennai find of most interest and what is the most popular food there? Travel Tips I am not a foreigner but I have met many foreigner in Chennai. They like most in Chennai is the sense of discipline among all the people there and also there process adherence. Most of outsiders like Idli, Uttapam and fresh coconut available there. Among restaurants SARAVANA BHAVAN is most popular to outsiders mainly because of its cleanliness. Others It depends on your tastes. The longest or 2nd longest beach is there (Marina Beach). I haven't seen it since the Tsunami, but I presume it's back to normal now. There are many temples and very old churches, if religion is a part of your life. You can shop, people watch, see Indian movies Most popular food for a foreigner is probably dosai. It's like a crepe...sort of. You can have it filled with potatoes and it becomes a masala dosai. Very tasty. People like spicy food, so if you don't like spicy food, ask for mild. If you want to be wowed or awed, visit Museum to see Nataraja icon there. Official guide would explain in detail. Please also visit shore temple (7 pagodas remains) in Mammalapuram or Mahabalipuram 30 kms south east of Chennai to see cave temples and centuries old rock murals. Iddli and dosas are the most popular food there. Spice in chutney and sambhar (side dishes to Iddlis and dosas) can really hurt you. It is a good idea to take Yogurt or buttermilk with your food to aid digestion and reduce the effects of spice there is lot of places to visit.... temples,,, churches.... you can find in this site. http://tourismin india.com/indiainfo/ about food Indian food is famous in world for it taste ... there is lot of good taste Indian spicy curry..... and also sea food.... if you are veggie .you can find here easily.....enjoy yourself.. |
