Best place for American to stay in Chennai for Business? |
Travel Info I am visiting Perot Systems in Chennai in April. Where is the best place to stay? Is there anything a new business international traveller should know about travel to India? Like what to wear, or to bring. Of course I will have business attire, but what is acceptable to wear in public? What is the weather like in Chennai in mid-April? Thank you! Travel Tips Hi, Welcome to India and to Chennai. Chennai as you probably know is a city on the shore of the Bay of Bengal. It is also the capital of TamilNadu which is a state of the Indian Union. Well, History apart, Chennai temperatures hit around 100degrees Fahrenheit in April and May. So the first item in your packing list would be an appropriate sunblock cream and plenty of it if you plan to travel outdoors a lot. Cotton clothes would be a great comforter. Informal dress is acceptable in public like Tshirt /jeans etc., Full sleeves would give you some protection from direct sunlight. Heavy fabrics like woollen are strictly no-no. I assume Perot would take care of your lodging and travelling from airport etc., otherwise check www.travelocity.co.in and of course you can google chennai. Having said that, you can have a good time in chennai. Chennai has the latest malls including a KFC outlet and multiplexes. While in Chennai dont miss the fabulous Marina beach, temples, Fort St.George and a must see trip to Mahabalipuram(some 40km away).or Kanchipuram for temples and some exotic Silk Sarees. Ask a local Chennaite to accompany you. People are real friendly and you will get a taste of Indian culture in a cosmopolitan city. Standard precautions apply. It will be quite hot in Chennai at that time, since Summer has already started. Cotton clothes is the best for this climate.
