The good hotels around are at T.Nagar Benz park (Rs 2.5k), Residency (Rs 3K), The Park (its near but costly than its worth). There are a lot of hotels near Egmore R.S like Imperial for less than 1 K.
The hotels in Chennai are good.
The suurounding roads spoil the atmosphere.(pollution, heat)
But if u wanna enjoy really,
Go to GRT Grand in ECR Road or even better STERLING resorts in mahabalipuram.
Both are far off but these are better than those 5 star hotels inside the city (Taj, Park, Meredian, etc.)
