What's with STD? |
Travel Info Why the telephone boths are called STD and others? Does anyone knows that STD stands for "SexualTransmited Disease? I don't live in India, but I do watch lot's of Tamil films. It's very facinating to know. Travel Tips STD stands for Subscriber Trunk Dialling, which is making a national call without operator assistance. Curiously, STD as in dialling was in use in the commonwealth countries since the mid 50's of the last century while the one pertaining to disease came to vogue since the 90's. BTW, ISD is International Subscriber Dialling, not disease of any sort. Others std = standard They are usually refereed to as STI`s now. Sexually transmitted infection. STD also stands for standard. well another meaning is "Stop Touching your Dingaling" haha |
