Egmore, Royapettah, Mambalam (T.Nagar) are the nearest area which can be accesible very easily by sub urban trains as well as by bus.*I too go with tdrajagopal's suggestion.Instead of looking for a hostel at Parry's, you can try some other places situated parallel to the electric unit track en route Tambaram. Or choose Kilpauk,Egmore, Periamet and Vepery. I think there is YWCA near the newspaper office 'Dina Thanthi' on Poonamalli High Road from where you can reach Parry's in 15-20 minutes by bus.
